Powell County Emergency Management Director J.L. Bowen and Powell County Judge Executive Darren Farmer share the vision to, among other things, coordinate a system of mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery to protect the lives, environment, and property of the people of Powell County. We believe that Powell County is one of the most scenic places in the world to live. It is our goal to do everything we can to influence others by our actions to share that belief as well.
Powell County serves the citizens of both Stanton and Clay City as well. We work with coordinated efforts with all emergency services in Powell County to make it a safer and more pleasant place to live and work and to raise our families.
The Powell County Emergency Management Office is located on the second floor of the Powell County 911 Dispatch Center. We are affiliated with many programs, including the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program, Earthquake, Mitigation, Search and Rescue, Responder Training, Local Emergency Planning Committee, Kentucky Department of Homeland Security, and Amber Alert.
Powell County Emergency Management plays an active role with the Public Assistance program that, during times of declared disasters, will coordinate with the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Federal Emergency Management Agency to offer assistance to those who qualify. Our office staff is available or on call 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
